Universities are now in tough competition to attract the highest-achieving students onto their courses. As a result, it is really important for universities to make a good impression when prospective students attend admission days to ensure they make that university their first choice when applying through UCAS.

We were appointed to work on a campaign for the University of Sussex that would inspire prospective students and their families when visiting the campus. We developed a campaign around ‘US’ - the University brand. We developed a key message ‘Make US your future’ and used appropriate words ending in ‘US’ which reflected the ethos of the university and gave it a real personality for immediate engagement. Words included ‘ambitioUS, curioUS, adventuroUS and fabuloUS. We had fun too – using ravenoUS for the café and industrioUS for the library signage.

To create impact on admissions days, we designed colourful campus signage (feather flags and lamp post banners). One of the most popular campaign elements we produced was a series of button badges, each showing a different ‘US’ word which we hope will become collectibles and help keep the university ‘front of mind’.
